Bulldozers on the Bosphorus line enter Baylan this time

The demolition of sections identified as illegal at the Baylan Patisserie in Bebek began in the morning hours. As part of the ongoing efforts targeting illegal structures along the Bosphorus line in Istanbul, following the demolition of the illegal sections of the Bebek Hotel yesterday, action was taken today for the Baylan Patisserie. Teams from the IMM Bosphorus Reconstruction Directorate arrived at the building early in the day to conduct inspections.

NON-COMPLIANCE WITH REGULATIONS DETECTED IN ILLEGAL SECTIONS

During the checks conducted before the demolition, it was determined that there were practices contrary to regulations in some parts of the patisserie, which is located within the Bosphorus Conservation Site area. Consequently, the relevant legal process was initiated. The structure, for which a demolition decision was issued by the council, was included in the demolition schedule on September 4, 2025.

Due to lawsuits filed, administrative courts had previously issued a stay of execution decision. However, following objections by the IMM Legal Consultancy, this decision was lifted, and the illegal sections of the patisserie were included in the demolition schedule once again.

PRODUCTION FACILITY AND STREET FRONTAGE REMOVED

The teams that entered the building in the morning hours demolished the sections contrary to regulations located on the street frontage and on parcels 22 and 23, which fall within the Bosphorus Conservation Site area. It was stated that the removed areas were used as the patisserie's production facility. At the same time, the demolition of the illegal sections on the side of the building facing the road was also carried out.
