Burak Keleş, who was detained for posting content insulting Atatürk on social media, was referred to the courthouse following his processing at the police station.
The suspect, who gave his statement to the prosecutor and was brought before the on-duty magistrate judge, was ordered to be arrested.
Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya had made a statement regarding the matter on his social media account under the heading "Gereği yapıldı-29" (Action Taken-29).
Yerlikaya stated, "The individual named Burak Keleş, who insulted the founder of our Republic, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and our dear nation on social media, has been apprehended and taken into custody by our Istanbul Police Department."
