Busy agenda for the new week: Budgets of 7 ministries to be discussed in the Turkish Parliament

Budget negotiations, which began on December 8 in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, are continuing without interruption in accordance with the established schedule. The General Assembly continues its work until the daily program is completed, including on public holidays.

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY WILL CONVENE FOR 14 DAYS

The budget negotiations are planned to last a total of 14 days. During this process, no visitors are accepted to the Parliament, and political party group meetings are not held.

BUDGETS TO BE DISCUSSED TODAY AND TOMORROW

The budgets of the Ministry of Family and Social Services and the Ministry of National Education are being addressed in the General Assembly today. Tomorrow, the budgets of the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Treasury and Finance will be discussed.

WEEKLY BUDGET CALENDAR

On Tuesday, the budgets of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will be negotiated. On Wednesday, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security and the Presidency budget will be on the General Assembly agenda. Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz will make a presentation regarding the Presidency budget.

The General Assembly calendar for the remaining days of the 2026 budget is as follows:

Today: Ministry of Family and Social Services, Ministry of National Education, Council of Higher Education (YÖK), Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), Higher Education Quality Council, and 127 universities.

Tomorrow: Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Treasury and Finance, General Directorate of Security, Gendarmerie General Command, Coast Guard Command, Presidency of Migration Management, AFAD, Revenue Administration, Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), Privatization Administration, Capital Markets Board (SPK), Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), Public Procurement Authority, Public Oversight Authority, and the Insurance and Private Pension Regulation and Supervision Agency (SEDDK).

Tuesday, December 16: Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and affiliated institutions and general directorates.

Wednesday, December 17: Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the Presidency, and affiliated institutions.

VOTING DATES

The first 8 articles of the 2026 Central Government Budget Law Proposal will be voted on Thursday, December 18, and the remaining 7 articles will be voted on Friday, December 19.

On Saturday, December 20, the unvoted articles of the 2024 Central Government Final Account Law Proposal will be discussed.

BUDGET MARATHON TO END ON SUNDAY

The budget negotiations will conclude on Sunday, December 21, with a vote to be held following speeches on the budget as a whole.
