Cabinet meets today after a 3-week break: What is on the agenda?

The Cabinet is meeting at the Presidential Palace today after a 3-week break.

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will chair the Cabinet meeting, where the main agenda item will be the latest developments in the Middle East.

According to NTV, the killing of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh, the reported retaliatory strike Iran is expected to launch against Israel, and Israel's attacks on Lebanon, particularly in Gaza, will be addressed.

Diplomatic efforts that Turkey can undertake to de-escalate the tension in the region will be evaluated.

PRISONER EXCHANGE IN ANKARA ON THE AGENDA

Another topic for the Cabinet will be the prisoner exchange that took place last week at Ankara Esenboğa Airport.

The 26-person exchange, which was carried out between the US and Russia under the coordination of the MIT (National Intelligence Organization), will be evaluated by the Cabinet.

The diplomatic steps Turkey will take from now on to reduce the tension rising over the Russia-Ukraine war will also be discussed in the Cabinet.

Counter-terrorism is also among the permanent topics of the Cabinet.

The operation carried out last week in the Gara, Qandil, and Asos regions in northern Iraq, where 25 targets were destroyed, will be discussed in the Cabinet.

Steps regarding new operations will also be evaluated.

COMBATING THE INFORMAL ECONOMY

Inspections have been ongoing for some time as part of the fight against the informal economy.

Both these inspections and the fight against inflation are expected to be discussed in the Cabinet.

Erdoğan will appear before the cameras after the cabinet meeting and make assessments regarding the agenda.
