Call for solidarity from the wife of ailing prisoner Eren Odabaş
Nihal Odabaş, the wife of ailing prisoner Eren Odabaş, who is being held at Marmara No. 1 Prison, stated that her husband must be released and invited everyone who is concerned to attend the hearing scheduled for Thursday, May 23.

Eren Odabaş’s wife, Nihal Odabaş, drew attention to the health problems her husband is experiencing in prison. Stating that her husband has difficulty sitting, Odabaş said, “At the same time, there is growth in the lymph nodes under his arm. When I conveyed these symptoms to the doctors, they said the disease was progressing and spreading. My husband has been battling this tumor since 2018, and it recurred in 2020. For this reason, he received medication, but the treatment was discontinued due to side effects. He had to seek treatment again, but then he was arrested.”
CALL TO THE HEARING
Sharing a post on her social media account and noting that her husband's hearing is tomorrow, Odabaş invited everyone to show solidarity and made the following statement:
“I go to the courthouse every week to submit a petition. I state the severity of my husband's health condition and that he cannot receive treatment under these circumstances. He has been detained for 105 days, and finally, around the 90th day, it was decided that he should be referred to a hospital. I believe this referral was made in a hurry to cover up the rights violations that have occurred. It was said that he would be sent to Ankara City Hospital instead of Istanbul, but this did not happen.
It was said that a biopsy needed to be taken from his lymph nodes, but it still hasn't been done for three months. My husband's right to treatment is clearly being obstructed, and I believe he should be released. This is necessary both for his life and from a legal perspective. Furthermore, our children who are left outside are also being negatively affected by this situation.
Our children have to see a pedagogue. I want my husband to be released and to regain his health as soon as possible. I invite everyone to show solidarity at our hearing, which will be held tomorrow at 14:45 at the Istanbul 26th High Criminal Court.”
