Call from KRT employees: 'For editorial independence...'
KRT employees, who began a resistance and a broadcast stoppage action after failing to receive their salaries and meal allowances, have issued a call for solidarity for their ongoing watch. Journalists and technical staff working at KRT TV have stopped work due to unpaid salaries and meal allowances that have not been paid since March 28. The employees, who decided to black out the screen on June 4, are continuing the watch they started in front of the channel by exercising their right to refrain from work throughout the holiday.
The workers, who decided to stop broadcasting because they could not receive their rights, announced that they would hold a holiday celebration and solidarity meeting in front of the Eclips Plaza E Block in Maslak on Sunday, June 8, at 13:00. The call included the statement, "We call on everyone to support us so that we can achieve editorial independence and continue our profession with our dignity."
'PAY THE WAGES, RESTORE THE RIGHTS'
Following the decision to stop broadcasting, the employees made a series of concrete demands. The demands are as follows:
Immediate payment of delayed salaries and blocked meal allowances
Payment of earned severance pay without waiting for the court process
Completion of underpaid social security premiums
No employee should be unfairly dismissed during this process
Participation of professional organizations and all press workers is expected at the solidarity meeting to be held by KRT employees.
