Call from Minister Tekin to CHP: I will listen if they have reasonable suggestions

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin attended the agenda meeting of Pusula Newspaper in Erzurum. Regarding the compulsory education period, Minister Tekin said, "When taking a step, one must proceed by considering the possible consequences that step will bring. As of now, there is no situation where we will say 'we have shortened it' in the upcoming academic year. However, those who are in opposition also need to act with a bit of common sense. It is not right to say 'we are opposing' without knowing or seeing what is what. 

The Republican People's Party looks at it from a certain perspective: with a logic of reading intentions. For example, a logic like 'Atatürk is ours, no one else can love him,' 'The Republic is ours, since you are not one of us, you cannot love the Republic.' This is a logic that even children who have not reached the age of maturity would not employ. I have a piece of advice for the CHP members who say 'we are against it': They should take a look at the commission minutes from 2011-2012 when the 4+4+4 system was being discussed. They should see what the CHP deputies said about 12-year compulsory education there. It is a theater they are playing. If they have logical, reasonable suggestions, I will listen," he said.
