The Union of Turkish Bar Associations (TBB) has evaluated the Constitutional Court's second rights violation ruling regarding the continued imprisonment of TİP Hatay MP Can Atalay.
In the statement issued, a call was made to the Istanbul 13th High Criminal Court, demanding the immediate implementation of the Constitutional Court's ruling.
The statement included the following remarks: "The fundamental reason for the existence of the judiciary is to ensure the constitutional order and the rule of law. Therefore, decisions that would cause the rule of law to be questioned must be avoided." It was further emphasized that the court must swiftly comply with the Constitutional Court's rights violation ruling and that Can Atalay must be released. The statement noted that an opportunity has emerged to resolve the problem created by the judiciary within the framework of legal rules, and requested that steps be taken that will not lead to a new crisis. It is expected that the necessary arrangements will be made for Ş. Can Atalay to be released and to serve in parliament to represent his voters.
