Çankaya Mayor Güner's testimony revealed: Assets held before being elected mayor

The transcript of the testimony given by Çankaya Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner as a "suspect" within the scope of an investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has emerged.

In his statement taken at the Ankara Police Department's Financial Crimes Investigation Bureau, Güner stated that recruitment processes following his start in office at the municipality were conducted within the framework of relevant legislation, and that the personnel hired met the necessary requirements.

Answering a question regarding his assets and bank accounts, Güner said, "I support myself with my salary as mayor and the attendance fees from the Municipal Council. I also have rental income from an apartment inherited from my family. The residence I declared as my address above is registered in my name.

A three-quarter share of an apartment in the Keçiören district that I declared as inherited, a 500-square-meter plot of land in the Seferihisar district of İzmir, and a Hyundai Bayon vehicle with license plate 06 DFU 932 are registered in my name and are used by my mother.

All of these movable and immovable assets are assets I held before being elected mayor. They were acquired through personal savings and inheritance. I do not have a crypto account," he said.

Responding to the question of whether there are any companies registered in his name, Güner stated, "There is no company or firm registered in my name, nor am I a partner or manager of any."

"I have not obtained any benefit from anyone"

In response to the question of what kind of benefits were obtained from whom in exchange for irregularities in tender processes, Güner said in his testimony, "I do not believe there is any irregularity in the transactions. I have not obtained any benefit from anyone."
