According to the information obtained, Abdurrahim Kartal, who was driving his vehicle with license plate 35 RKB 01 on Cumhuriyet Street, moved into the opposite lane to overtake a white car in front of him. Upon seeing vehicles coming from the opposite direction, he lost control of the steering wheel while trying to return to his own lane and swerved onto the sidewalk. The car struck 15-year-old Muharrem Can Özel, who was walking on the sidewalk, at high speed, throwing him into the air. The child fell to the ground and was seriously injured.

Seriously injured, Muharrem Can Özel was taken to Merzifon Kara Mustafa Paşa State Hospital after receiving initial intervention from emergency medical teams at the scene. However, despite all interventions at the hospital, the child could not be saved and lost his life.
