Cause of foaming in Yalova's drinking water source identified
The Yalova Governor's Office announced that investigations into the foaming incident in the drinking water supply line revealed that a foaming agent used in cleaning and personal care products had been dumped into the stream. Five people were detained in connection with the incident, and two have been arrested.

On the evening of January 29, foaming was detected in the Kadıköy-Kurtköy regulator basin, which serves as a drinking water source for Yalova. Following the incident, a 1-day water outage was implemented across the city to protect public health.
As part of the investigation launched by the Yalova Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was revealed that the substance causing the foam had been intentionally dumped into the stream. Five people were detained in connection with the incident under the instructions of the prosecutor's office.
2 OF THE 5 SUSPECTS DETAINED HAVE BEEN ARRESTED
Kurtköy Neighborhood Headman Y.T., village council member N.U., and former municipal employees S.A., G.K., and Ö.B. were detained. Of the suspects referred to the Yalova Courthouse, G.K., Ö.B., and N.U. were released, while headman Y.T. and former municipal employee S.A. were arrested and sent to prison.
STATEMENT FROM THE YALOVA GOVERNOR'S OFFICE
The Yalova Governor's Office issued a written statement regarding the foaming incident. The statement included the following:
"In the investigation conducted regarding the foaming observed in the Kadıköy/Kurtköy regulator basin, which feeds our city's water source, it was determined that a substance that causes water to foam (a compound generally used as a foaming agent in cleaning and personal care products) was dumped into the stream. Of the 5 suspects detained under the instructions of the prosecutor's office, 2 have been arrested and 3 have been released."
