Tugay responded to criticisms from the AKP regarding a "lack of investment" by stating that they are waiting for approval from the Ministry and the DSI regarding the water crisis, but that no steps have been taken.

Cemil Tugay said, "We have identified a location for a seawater desalination plant. We have alsosubmitted our application for it. We are waiting for news from the Ministry. Apart from that, we want to secure water from certain groundwater sources. For that,we are waiting for the DSI to grant permission. The DSI is currentlynot allowing us to drillnew wells."...they are not granting permits for them, nor are they building dams.

Regarding seawater desalination, the ministry also needs to allocate the area to us and subsequently issue a license. We are waiting for that as well. A member of parliament said, 'there is nothing they are waiting for from the ministry.' Even on this single issue three things Istated. For this, both the roadWe are workingto do our part for both today andtomorrow, and we will be ready to dowhat is required of us,” he said.
