Cengiz İnşaat cannot be stopped: Approval granted for capacity increase project in Cennet Koyu

The company of Mehmet Cengiz, known for its proximity to the government, Cengiz İnşaat Sanayi ve Ticaret AŞ, cannot be stopped.

A 'CED is not required' decision has been issued for the capacity increase project of the facility that Cengiz İnşaat wants to build on a 678 thousand square meter protected plot of land in Bodrum's Gölköy neighborhood, known as Cennet Koyu.

Local residents had held protests regarding the construction project, which has sparked reactions.

The project, for which the 'CED is not required' decision was issued on December 7, 2023, had also been granted a construction permit by the Bodrum Municipality on December 12.

While some CHP council members in the Bodrum Municipality reacted to the permit granted to Cengiz İnşaat and demanded its cancellation, the municipality announced that the permit would be re-evaluated and cancelled 60 building permits.

Following the municipality's cancellation decision, Cengiz Holding applied to the Muğla 1st Administrative Court. The court issued a stay of execution.

According to the report in Gazete Duvar; a 'Environmental Impact Assessment Is Not Required' decision was issued today for the Tourism Accommodation Facility Capacity Increase project planned to be built by Cengiz İnşaat Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. on plot 1 of block 305 and plot 1 of block 306 in the Gökburun locality of Bodrum's Göl neighborhood.

With the capacity increase project, a hotel is planned on a 77,391.84 square meter section of plot 1 of block 305, which is located adjacent to plot 1 of block 306 and belongs to the same investor, and an apartment hotel is planned on a 151,923.06 square meter section.

On plot 1 of block 305, the total capacity will be 128 rooms and 440 people, consisting of 84 suite and apartment rooms with a capacity for 264 people in the apartment hotel unit, and 44 suite rooms with a capacity for 176 people in the hotel unit.
