Chair of the TBMM İliç Commission has been determined
AKP Antalya Deputy Atay Uslu has been elected as the Chair of the TBMM İliç Mining Accident Research Commission.

The Parliamentary Research Commission, established to investigate all aspects of the landslide that occurred at the mine in the İliç district of Erzincan and to determine measures to prevent potential mining accidents, held its first meeting.
During the meeting, AKP Antalya Deputy Atay Uslu was elected as the commission chair. AKP Bolu Deputy Yüksel Coşkunyürek was elected as the commission deputy chair, MHP Antalya Deputy Abdurrahman Başkan as the commission spokesperson, and CHP Erzincan Deputy Mustafa Sarıgül as the secretary member.
In his speech following his election as commission chair, Uslu stated that the accident in İliç deeply saddened the Turkish nation and that they hope the 8 workers still under the soil will be reached as soon as possible.
Pointing out that more than 10 million cubic meters of soil mass slid at the moment of the accident, Uslu noted that all institutions and organizations began working from the very first moment to rescue the workers, and that search and rescue operations, which were paused for a while due to the risk of landslides, are currently continuing 24 hours a day.
Uslu emphasized that there have been speculations regarding soil, air, and water contamination following the accident, but that the relevant ministries have announced that no negative findings have been encountered in the necessary checks so far.
Underlining that the research commission was established with the joint decision of all parties with groups in the Parliament, Uslu stated the following:
"We established this commission together, and we will work together. I have assumed the chairmanship, but every one of our friends here is a chair. Everyone can comfortably express their ideas, demands, and thoughts. Together, we will work on what needs to be done to repair this process and prevent such accidents in the future. We will fulfill the obligation our nation has entrusted to us to the end. We will work, we will listen, we will conduct on-site inspections, and we will prepare a comprehensive report both to ensure such accidents do not happen again and to reveal the negligence and ensure those responsible for this accident are punished."
