AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has reportedly ordered a change process within the party management, with claims that the resignations of many provincial and district chairs will be requested.

The change process, which began in the organizations of the AKP, which did not achieve the expected results in the local elections, will gain momentum in the coming days. The AKP management had prepared alternative formulas regarding the congress calendar under the instruction of President Erdoğan.

It was concluded that it would be more appropriate to hold the congress within 2025, but it was decided to initiate the change process starting with provincial and district chairs during this period.

CHANGE FROM THE BOTTOM UP

Although President Erdoğan announced in party meetings he attended after the local elections that there would be a 'changing of the guard,' he has not yet taken any steps regarding the party's top management.

According to a report in the Türkiye newspaper, known for its proximity to the government, Erdoğan is of the opinion that the change process should start from the organizations rather than the party's top management. In this context, the provincial chairs of Rize, Adıyaman, and Batman had resigned before the holiday under the instruction of the headquarters.

There are also those within the party who object to the change process, which will gain momentum in the coming days, starting from the organizations.

However, the AKP management, which is in the final stages of completing its evaluations on a provincial and district basis, believes that the change progressing from the bottom to the top will keep the organizations vibrant.

COMPREHENSIVE CHANGE IMMINENT IN PROVINCES WHERE ELECTIONS WERE LOST

Recalling Erdoğan's statement that 'Those who do not receive a passing grade from the voters cannot be worthy of our appreciation,' AKP officials noted that a comprehensive change is imminent, especially in provinces where elections were lost.

According to the information obtained, the AKP management, which aims to complete the renewal process in the organizations by the congress, is also conducting a detailed study for the names to be appointed to replace the provincial and district chairs who will be asked to resign.

It is stated that Erdoğan is personally evaluating the new names to be brought to the organizations with 'names he trusts and close friends whose opinions he values.'
