Charging completely banned on aircraft
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (SHGM) has announced that charging portable power banks on aircraft, which poses a risk to flight safety, has been prohibited.

In a statement on its official website, the SHGM announced that changes have been made to the technical instructions for the safe transport of dangerous goods by air regarding portable batteries in flight operations.
According to the published flight operations directive, the relevant change was made to the technical instructions for the 'Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air' by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) council on March 27, 2026.
MAXIMUM OF TWO UNITS
In the statement made by the institution, it was stated, “Within the scope of the aforementioned change, charging portable batteries (power banks) on the aircraft is prohibited. The number of portable batteries that each person can carry is limited to a maximum of two units.
It is recommended to use portable batteries to charge portable electronic devices (PED) on the aircraft.
The aforementioned restrictions do not apply to portable batteries carried by crew members to fulfill operational requirements, but they are valid for portable batteries carried by crew members for personal use."
