Presidential Chief Advisor Oktay Saral reacted to the hanging of a banner reading 'LGBTI+ rights are human rights' on the Istanbul Bar Association building, targeting both the bar association and LGBTI+ individuals.
Saral stated, "It is now time to completely remove these debates from the country's agenda with strong and decisive legal regulations that are based on the sensitivities of our nation."
Saral said the following in his post:
"For an institution that should be the representative of the law to become a carrier of ideological propaganda is an indicator of the pathetic state they have fallen into. This step taken by the Istanbul Bar Association, known for its moral degeneration, has wounded the common conscience of the nation and cast a shadow over the impartiality of legal institutions.
The duty of bar associations is not to act as spokespersons for certain ideological movements, but to defend the law, justice, and the rights of the nation. This mentality, which ignores the values of society, is the product of a base ideological preference that is far from legal responsibility.
No imposition that targets Turkey's family structure, social peace, and common values can gain legitimacy, no matter under what guise it appears. One should not remain silent against such provocative attempts that test the nation's patience.
It is now time to completely remove these debates from the country's agenda with strong and decisive legal regulations that are based on the sensitivities of our nation. Turkey's agenda is not ideological impositions; it is a strong family, a strong society, and a strong state!"
