Chief Prosecutor leading the Gülistan Doku investigation speaks out: What is the status of the search efforts?
Chief Prosecutor Ebru Cansu, who is leading the Gülistan Doku investigation, stated that both technical examinations and field operations are ongoing in the case. She said, "When I saw that the SIM card had pinged a cell tower in another province, and we followed that lead and questioned the situation in a chain-like manner, we reached certain data." She announced that searches are continuing over a wide area, digital materials are being examined, and discrepancies in hospital records are being investigated.

Following the decision to treat the Gülistan Doku case as a homicide investigation, an operation was launched on April 14 under the instruction of the Tunceli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. As part of the ongoing work, 11 of the suspects taken into custody were arrested by the court to which they were referred and sent to prison.
Chief Prosecutor Ebru Cansu, who is leading the investigation, made assessments regarding the process.
NEW FINDINGS IN THE INVESTIGATION
Speaking to TRT Haber, Cansu thanked Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek for his support.
Stating that an investigation was launched after the SIM card gave a signal in a different province, Cansu said, "When I saw that it had pinged a cell tower in another province, and we followed that lead and questioned the situation in a chain-like manner, we reached certain data. Only the information about the device in which the SIM card was inserted had come into the file. However, it had not been pursued. This SIM card was inserted into this device, but who had used this device before? Who could have inserted it? There was no research on this. When I investigated at that stage, it led me to Gökhan."
FIELD SEARCHES CONTINUE OVER A WIDE AREA
Stating that search efforts are continuing, Cansu expressed that teams are conducting examinations at numerous points:
"We went to many regions. With the hope of finding her and the capabilities of the equipment we have, we looked everywhere in Tunceli—mountainous areas, forests, shelters, caves—day and night, regardless of snow or winter. I was personally with the Gendarmerie during the searches. A JASAT team from Ankara and equipped technical devices were sent. A team of 30 people is still in the field."
DIGITAL MATERIALS TAKEN FOR EXAMINATION
It was reported that the process regarding the examination of digital materials belonging to the suspects within the scope of the investigation is ongoing:
“All kinds of digital materials belonging to the suspects were seized, and examination permits were obtained. Currently, their examinations by experts in cybercrimes are continuing. There were already HTS and PTS records in the file. We applied for those who needed to be taken again. They are also being taken.”
DISCREPANCY DETECTED IN RECORDS
A notable inconsistency was detected among the documents in the file. It was conveyed that examinations regarding hospital records are continuing:
“When we requested Gülistan Doku's treatment documents from the hospital, there was a contradiction in the dates on the document that arrived. The date that appeared as a hospital entry in the POLNET record did not appear at all in the hospital treatment document. This situation seemed suspicious to us. Currently, Ministry of Health inspectors are also conducting the necessary examinations at the hospital.”
