Chief Public Prosecutor's Office sends second letter in 'diploma' investigation into İmamoğlu

The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has sent a second letter regarding the 'diploma' investigation opened into Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.

In the second letter sent, the Rectorate of Istanbul University was requested to 'expedite the procedures'. 

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had launched an investigation for the crime of "forgery of official documents" following reports that İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu's undergraduate diploma was fake, as well as allegations regarding the falsity of his diploma in a report prepared by the Council of Higher Education.

Within the scope of the investigation, İmamoğlu's statement was taken on March 5.
