Child dies after being trapped under a shifting sand dune while playing on the beach

In the Kum neighborhood, 8-year-old Ezgi Yavuz and Ahmet Serdar Ünver began playing near a sand dune formed by waves on the beach in the Obalar area. After a while, the children were trapped under the shifting sand dune. Bystanders pulled the children from the sand and reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center.

Ezgi Yavuz, one of the children rushed to Kumluca State Hospital by medical teams, could not be saved, while the treatment of Ahmet Serdar continues.
It was stated that Ezgi Yavuz, a third-grade primary school student, lost her life as a result of sand entering her airway. The child's body was delivered to her family following an autopsy at the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute.
