Chilling atrocity in Konya: Man kills his stepmother and sister after an argument

In Konya, 24-year-old Rahman Öztürk brutally murdered his stepmother, Dursuniye Öztürk, and his biological sister, Esmanur Öztürk, by slitting their throats with a knife after an argument at home for an as-yet-unknown reason. It was learned that the father, who is bedridden, was also in the house during the horrific incident. Upon receiving the report, police and medical teams entered the home to find the lifeless bodies of the mother and daughter, while the murder suspect, Rahman Öztürk, was apprehended at the scene with the weapon used in the crime and taken into custody.

The double murder, which took place in the central Selçuklu district, has caused great shock and deep sorrow in the city.

ARGUMENT TURNED INTO A MASSACRE

The incident occurred around 14:00 in an apartment located on Hilmi Dede Street in the Işıklar neighborhood of Konya's central Selçuklu district.

An argument that began between family members in the home escalated quickly. A deranged Rahman Öztürk grabbed a knife from the kitchen and attacked his stepmother, Dursuniye Öztürk, and his sister, Esmanur Öztürk. Öztürk murdered the mother and sister at the scene by slitting their throats.

Apartment residents, who experienced great panic upon hearing shouting and sounds of a struggle coming from the apartment, immediately reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center.

PAINFUL SCENE: MOTHER AND DAUGHTER DIED AT THE SCENE

Following the report, numerous police and medical teams were dispatched to the address. In the initial examination conducted by medical teams who entered the home, it was determined that Dursuniye Öztürk and her daughter Esmanur Öztürk, who had suffered severe wounds to their throats, had lost their lives in a pool of blood.

Suspect Apprehended: The murder suspect, Rahman Öztürk, who carried out the atrocity, was apprehended at the scene by teams from the Selçuklu District Police Department and the Public Security Branch, along with the knife used in the crime, and taken into custody. The suspect was taken to the police station for questioning.

BEDRIDDEN FATHER TAKEN TO HOSPITAL AS A PRECAUTION

Steps were also taken regarding the condition of the father, Fuat Öztürk, who was in the house at the time of the horrific massacre and lives as a paralyzed or bedridden individual.

The unfortunate father, who suffered great distress due to the shock of the event and the moments of terror in the house, was removed from the home by medical teams. Fuat Öztürk was transported by ambulance to the nearest hospital for both an examination of his general health and to be kept under observation as a precaution.

While the Konya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident, the work of public security and crime scene investigation teams in the house continues meticulously. The lifeless bodies of the mother and daughter will be taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for autopsies.
