Çam said, "We are here with our council members. We are aware of the pressure being applied, but we are standing tall. Trust the Republican People's Party. We will not hand over this municipality, which we won after 30 years, to the AK Party; we are aware of your plan. We are aware of what you are doing, and we will stand firm. We are all together, and Bayrampaşa is behind us. We will not let you into this municipality."
Bayrampaşa District Chair Ali Can Çam spoke as follows in his statement:
"The process that began with Esenyurt, as we have stated before, has unfortunately reached our Bayrampaşa. We said on Saturday morning that we would stand here with determination. Our democracy watch continues. We invite all our Bayrampaşa neighbors to stand up for our Mayor Hasan Mutlu, our colleagues, and their votes.
For days, a process has been carried out through psychological pressure, by keeping them hungry, and by depriving them of personal care. Our Mayor sends his best regards to you all. Our Mayor is more concerned about any disruption in service to our colleagues and you, the valuable people of Bayrampaşa, than he is about himself. We state once again from here: We are here with our council members. We will not let you into this municipality.
Once again, I invite all the people of Bayrampaşa to stand up for Mayor Hasan, our colleagues, and their votes. This issue is neither a matter of Hasan Mutlu nor any other personal matter. This is an attempt to eliminate democratic elections in our country. They want to keep a single-party administration alive. We will not allow this. I invite all the people of Bayrampaşa to stand up for their votes."
