CHP Ankara Deputy Umut Akdoğan calls on TRT to 'wait for the general election': A second surprise is coming

In his speech regarding the research motion submitted for TRT to broadcast autonomously and impartially, CHP Ankara Deputy Umut Akdoğan stated, "TRT is an institution that should serve all of us with all of our money and taxes, but it does not serve all of us." Akdoğan continued his remarks as follows: "In the past, when the television didn't work, we would do two things. First, we would unplug it and plug it back in; second, we would hit the top of the television. Now, the time has come to hit the top of TRT. We are trying to do this by going to TRT's centers in every province."

Stating that he made a post on the X platform 20 days ago regarding TRT, Akdoğan made the following assessment:

"I said I would appear on TRT. There was such a high level of communication that we were astonished. A deputy appearing on TRT, a CHP deputy appearing on TRT, seemed very strange to everyone. They are calling from the Directorate of Communications, and the person at the Directorate of Communications says, 'What kind of business is this?' Why? Can't a CHP deputy appear? The Deputy General Manager also says to the Directorate of Communications,"Oh sir, how could that be?" Just think, this is the situation we have reached.

"TRT, BROADCAST IN BLACK AND WHITE, LIVE WITH HONOR"

The deputy who will come to this podium shortly on behalf of the AK Party should not talk about the investments made in TRT. It is true that TRT's broadcast is now in HD, but TRT is finished at its core. This is my call to TRT from here: TRT, broadcast in black and white, live with honor.

Perhaps the image was grainy and the sound was crackly on those old, worn-out televisions, but broadcasts were made with honor, morality, dignity, integrity, honesty, and truthfulness. Today, unfortunately, we hear TRT's lies on expensive televisions.

If you like, we can do it this way: we can all come together and pass a law here, saying that TRT is the propaganda apparatus of the party that received the most votes in the last election. That wouldn't suit you either, because we received the most votes in the last election held. Then you would propose something like, 'In the last general election held,' at least that would be in accordance with the law.

42 EPISODES FILMED: 22 EPISODES FEATURED AK PARTY DEPUTIES, 20 EPISODES FEATURED AK PARTY ACADEMICS, UNIONISTS, AND JOURNALISTS

We examined a program; 42 episodes were filmed, and AK Party deputies appeared in 22 of them. In the remaining 20 episodes, AK Party academics, unionists, and journalists appeared. So, what happened regarding the CHP? TRT made a documentary titled 'The CHP's Strategy of Lies.' What kind of work is this? Can a channel broadcasting on behalf of the public make a documentary under the title of 'strategy of lies' about a political party?

TRT NEITHER TOOK OUR MONEY NOR AIRED OUR ADVERTISEMENTS

The AK Party's rallies... So much was given, this much was given. If they gave it, they gave it. What did they do to us? We wanted to pay for advertisements during the election period, but they neither took our money nor aired our advertisements. I said, 'Pray that it followed the rest of the government's practices; otherwise, it would have taken your money and still not aired your advertisements.'

15 MILLION SECONDS OF ADVERTISING, ALL TO ORGANIZATIONS CLOSE TO THE GOVERNMENT

In the first ten months of 2025, 15 million seconds of advertising were aired. By companies affiliated with the TMSF, all 15 million seconds were given to 90% of the media, that is, to organizations close to the government. Zero seconds were given to media not under the control of the government.

In 2025, public banks gave 5 billion TL in advertising to media close to the government, while zero advertising was given to media considered not close to the government.

As for the penalties, what happened? Of the ninety percent segment, that is, 90% close to the government and 10% not close to the government, 90% of the penalties issued by the Press Advertising Agency were imposed on that ten percent section not close to the government. If this is conscience, if this is mercy, then I have nothing more to say."

Akdoğan concluded his remarks as follows:

"Look, we are saying two things. One, we say let us be included on TRT; two, we say TRT must now abandon this lie. The last thing I will say is this: A few days before the March 31 local elections, our Chairman said, 'We will have a surprise for TRT,' and that surprise we achieved, we became the first party, and it was announced on TRT screens that 'CHP came in first.' Now, a second surprise is coming in the general election. You will have to broadcast that CHP is the first party again after the general election."
