CHP's Böke reacts to trustee appointment: "The will of the people cannot be seized"

Republican People's Party (CHP) Secretary General Selin Sayek Böke reacted strongly to the appointment of a trustee to the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency.

In a post on her social media account, Böke stated, "The will of the people cannot be seized. The Republican People's Party cannot be seized. We are tens of millions, we are shoulder to shoulder. We will defeat the coup plotters."

Böke's statement resonated widely among CHP organizations as well as opposition circles. Party members described the appointment decision as a "coup against democracy" and characterized it as an "interference with the party's will and the people's choice."
