CHP municipal council member assaults journalist

Hakan Sataroğlu, the publisher of the Zeytin Efe newspaper operating in the Burhaniye district of Balıkesir, was attacked by Nadir Bayram, a CHP municipal council member for Burhaniye.

The moment of the attack was captured second-by-second on security cameras. The council member, Bayram, entered calmly, headed toward the table, and attacked the journalist sitting there.

The violence continued even after the journalist fell from his seat to the floor. The journalist, who received kicks to his head, lost consciousness. The assailant then fled the scene.

Restaurant employees assisted the journalist, who lay unconscious on the floor for minutes.

JOURNALISTS CONDEMN THE ATTACK

Journalist Hakan Sataroğlu, who was attacked, has filed a criminal complaint against the assailant. The Balıkesir Journalists Association also condemned the attack in a published statement.
