CHP council member passes away

CHP's Biga Provincial General Assembly member Levent İrez passed away yesterday. A ceremony was held in front of the Çanakkale Provincial Special Administration for İrez, who was unable to attend the April Provincial General Assembly meetings that convened for the first time last week following the March 31 Local Administration General Elections.

The funeral ceremony was attended by Çanakkale Deputy Governor Hakkı Uzun, CHP Çanakkale Deputy İsmet Güneşhan, CHP Provincial Chair Levent Gürbüz, İYİ Party Provincial Chair Selahattin Yıldızlar, Çanakkale Provincial General Assembly President Halil Ertuğrul, and members of the provincial general assembly.

Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Provincial General Assembly President Halil Ertuğrul said, "There are moments when words fail. Today is one of those moments. I only had one meeting with my brother Levent. I never had the opportunity to work with him. I am very saddened by this. We were going to do great things together, but as the Provincial General Assembly, we will do great things. He will be watching us from above. I offer my condolences to everyone."

Following the speech and a prayer, the body of the late Provincial General Assembly member Levent İrez was sent to the Biga district. İrez's funeral will be laid to rest in the Biga Karaçayır cemetery following the funeral prayer to be held after Friday prayers at the Kurşunlu Mosque.
