CHP's Alp warns: A loaf of bread will cost 30 liras in the autumn
CHP Kars Deputy İnan Akgün Alp has warned that the price of bread could rise to 30 liras in the autumn. Alp stated that this potential increase has nothing to do with a fertilizer crisis or war, but that the responsibility lies with two bureaucrats.

Speaking at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey regarding a proposal to investigate the potential effects of a war in Iran on Turkey, İnan Akgün Alp said, "A loaf of bread will likely cost 20 liras in the autumn.
You will explain this to our people as follows: 'A war broke out in Iran, that's why food prices increased.' But our citizens will be eating bread at 30 liras because of two people. One is Hüseyin Aydın, General Manager of Agricultural Credit Cooperatives, and the other is Aytaç Orkun, General Manager of Gübretaş."
Reminding that the 140-day strike at Gübretaş halted production, Alp stated that the management did not negotiate with the workers during this process, causing the crisis to escalate. He added, "We said, 'End this strike, there is a risk of war in the region, we will be dragged into a fertilizer crisis tomorrow.' In August 2025, these warnings were denied, and today we are experiencing that fertilizer crisis."
Stating that large amounts of fertilizer were purchased from different companies during the fertilizer crisis, Alp directed the following questions to the Agricultural Credit management: "Why didn't you take precautions before this crisis arrived? While the possibility of war in the Middle East was being discussed for months, why didn't you make a strategic reserve plan for fertilizer supply? Why didn't you announce a long-term import program and take measures for farmers' access to fertilizer?"
Alp stated that the practices within the management of Gübretaş and Agricultural Credit Cooperatives should be investigated and called for the dismissal of the relevant managers.
