Allegations that millions of liras were spent at Adapazarı Municipality under the heading of "catering costs" via direct procurement have become the top agenda item in the district.

According to the allegations, the municipality made four separate payments totaling 7 million liras in just two weeks. The transparency of these transactions, through which municipal officials quickly transferred funds, has been called into question.

CRITICISM OF DIRECT PROCUREMENT FROM CHP'S ÖZKAN

Making a statement on his social media account, CHP Adapazarı District Chair Sabri Anıl Özkan shared the details of the expenditures with the public using the documents he published. Özkan expressed his criticism with the following words: "The master's hand is not being held back at Adapazarı Municipality; what is with these catering expenses, Mr. Mutlu? What is this rush, one after another? Millions in catering expenses in as short a time as two weeks? (7 million) Are you trying to hide assets from a fire with direct procurement?"

Özkan's statements and the documents he shared have also brought about debates regarding whether the municipality's expenditures made through direct procurement comply with laws and budget discipline. Demands for transparency regarding the justifications and amounts of the expenditures are rising among the public.
