CHP's Dinçer: 'The AKP stole the television' so that the work on the law foreseeing a massacre would not be followed

Reacting to the removal of a television placed in the corridor of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) to allow those outside the commission to watch its proceedings, CHP Ankara Deputy Semra Dinçer made a statement where the television had been, saying, "The AKP stole the television so that the work on the law foreseeing a massacre would not be followed."

Deliberations on the legislative proposal that paves the way for "euthanasia" for stray animals began in the TBMM Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Affairs Commission on July 17, but the meeting was postponed to today due to fights and arguments. Before the deliberations, which started at 14:00 today, it was observed that the television in the corridor where the Planning and Budget Commission, where the meeting was to be held, is located, had been removed.

The removal of the television, which allowed commission proceedings to be watched by those outside, sparked a reaction from opposition deputies. While deputies expressed their reactions to the removal of the television during the commission meeting, Commission Chairman Vahit Kirişçi stated that "the equipment was damaged due to what happened during the commission's first meeting and would be repaired." 

CHP Ankara Deputy Semra Dinçer shared a video of herself making a statement where the television had been removed while the commission meeting was ongoing. Semra Dinçer said the following:

“We gathered in the Planning and Budget Commission Hall to discuss the legislative proposal that includes condemning stray animals to death. However, we witnessed that the television located in the corridor leading to the hall, which commission staff and citizens used to follow the proceedings, had been removed.

Commission Chairman Vahit Kirişci said, 'the television is broken.' You know there was a line in the movie Vizontele, 'Father, they stole the battery.' Well, something exactly like that happened in this Parliament today.

The AKP stole the television so that the work on the law foreseeing a massacre would not be followed. This is just too much. We will defend life, not a massacre.”
