CHP Istanbul Deputy Oğuz Kaan Salıcı made statements regarding the Altay Tank, which has not yet been produced despite being promised. According to Salıcı's statement, when the first signatures were signed for the Altay Tank, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was prime minister, the dollar exchange rate was at the level of 1 lira 10 kuruş, and Instagram was not yet in use. During the same period, Bashar al-Assad was in power in Syria, Muammar Gaddafi in Libya, Hosni Mubarak in Egypt, and Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in Tunisia.
CHP's Salıcı stated that President Erdoğan and relevant officials have been selling hope for years by providing dates.
However, he reminded that in recent months, officials from the contractor company announced that the factory required for the production of the Altay Tank had not yet been completed.
Saying "Our nation is still waiting for the Altay Tank," Salıcı criticized the delay in the process and emphasized that the public expects the promises made to be kept.
The Altay Tank project was announced years ago as part of Turkey's domestic and national tank production goals, which are important for the country's defense industry. However, the project has not been realized to date due to disruptions in production processes and technical reasons.
