CHP's Tanrıkulu: As a lawyer, I say it's shameful to even ask these questions: Shares from Çağlayan Courthouse

CHP Diyarbakır Deputy and Party Assembly member Sezgin Tanrıkulu is following the developments at the Çağlayan Courthouse. In a post from there, Tanrıkulu made statements regarding the testimony given by İmamoğlu and the questions directed at him.

While protests continue across the country following the detention of Ekrem İmamoğlu, the investigation into İmamoğlu continues with his statements to the prosecutor's office. CHP figures are also closely following İmamoğlu, whose statement to the prosecutor regarding the files against him is ongoing.

One of these figures, a CHP Diyarbakır Deputy and Party Assembly Member, made a statement on his social media account regarding the developments at the Çağlayan Courthouse.

As a lawyer, I say; it is shameful to ask these questions, it is shameful to ask these questions to the mayor of a city of 16 million people. 

We are at the Çağlayan Courthouse with many of our deputy and lawyer colleagues. 

Lawyers who were not defense counsel during the police statement were not allowed into the courthouse, and tear gas was used on the lawyers waiting outside; they were not let in. 

It looks more like a police station environment than a courthouse; there shouldn't be this many security guards and police officers in courthouses. 

Two separate statements have been taken from Ekrem İmamoğlu; one is 118 pages regarding certain allegations, and the other is 18 pages regarding the City Consensus (Kent Uzlaşısı). 

I have read and examined both carefully, and I have also read the statements of our other friends. 

Such lack of seriousness is truly frightening. The Metropolitan Mayor of a city of 16 million cannot be held, detained, and kept for 4 days with such unserious questions.
