CHP files appeal with the YSK for 6 districts

Republican People's Party (CHP) Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik announced that objections filed regarding the mayoral elections in Arnavutköy, Pendik, Fatih, Zeytinburnu, Bahçelievler, and Ümraniye were rejected by district and provincial election boards, and that these objections have now been escalated to the Supreme Election Council (YSK).

Çelik announced that they had filed objections to the mayoral elections held in Arnavutköy, Pendik, Fatih, Zeytinburnu, Bahçelievler, and Ümraniye, and that these were rejected by the district and provincial election boards. Çelik stated that they have now taken these objections to the YSK.

Çelik emphasized that there is a double standard, noting that in Bahçelievler specifically, an objection filed by a rival political party against the council majority they had won was accepted and invalid votes were recounted, while their own objections were rejected.

Özgür Çelik shared the following information regarding the matter:

"Our objections in Arnavutköy, Pendik, Fatih, Zeytinburnu, Bahçelievler, and Ümraniye were rejected by the district and provincial election boards. As of today, we have filed our objections regarding our six districts with the YSK.

Just as in Gaziosmanpaşa, we want the votes to be recounted in the districts where we have filed objections!

It is a double standard that while the objection of a rival political party to the council majority we won in Bahçelievler was accepted and a recount of invalid votes was conducted, a recount for the mayoral election, which we objected to, was rejected!"
