CHP's Günaydın responds to 'fake diploma MP' allegations: Within three months

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Gökhan Günaydın stated, "If there is a fraudster who has submitted a fake primary school or other diploma to this Parliament, they should be removed from the Grand National Assembly of Turkey as soon as possible. Come on, sign this legislative proposal. Let us all confirm our integrity and honesty together."

In a video message posted on his X account, Günaydın stated the following:

"Behind me, you see the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. This is a 105-year-old parliament opened on April 23, 1920. The Veteran Assembly is, in fact, the headquarters where the War of Independence was fought. We have 600 members of parliament here.

A primary school diploma is sufficient for these 600 members of parliament to be elected. However, Article 76 of the Constitution also lists not having been convicted of fraud as a condition for being elected as a member of parliament.

Recently, various claims have been voiced in the public sphere that the diplomas of 40 members of parliament are fake. This could be a primary school diploma or other diplomas submitted to the Parliament.

"The Speaker's Office must verify the authenticity of the diplomas from the relevant educational institution within 3 months"

We have submitted a legislative proposal. We say: Regardless of which diploma any member of parliament submits to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, the Speaker's Office must verify the authenticity of this diploma from the relevant educational institution within 3 months. Let it start with mine first.

Let it check my diplomas and the diplomas of all members of parliament in the Assembly. Thus, let it make the statement that 'No member of parliament's diploma is fake,' and let these discussions in the public sphere end.

If there is a fraudster who has submitted a fake primary school or other diploma to this Parliament, they should be removed from the Grand National Assembly of Turkey as soon as possible. Come on, sign this legislative proposal. Let us all confirm our integrity and honesty together."
