In his statement addressed to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, Tekin harshly criticized those who disrupted the order of the martyr's funeral.
Following the clashes that occurred in the last 2 days in the Claw-Lock operation region in Northern Iraq, the IYI Party, AKP, MHP, and Felicity Party groups had issued a joint declaration in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). The CHP had issued a separate declaration and was therefore criticized by some segments.
When the criticisms turned into a provocation attempt in Manisa, numerous reactions came, especially from the CHP front. Another reaction to this provocation attempt against Özel came from CHP's Gürsel Tekin.
Tekin wrote the following on his social media account:
"I condemn those who attempted a provocation against our Chairman Mr. Özgür Özel in Manisa and who lack the decency and etiquette of a martyr's funeral.
I wonder, where were they when it was said, 'Parliament does not convene just because three or five Mehmets have died'?
What are they doing against those who called martyrs 'heads'?
Let those who strain Turkey with deliberate, planned provocations know that
When the AKP came to power, there was 0 terrorism in Turkey.
The PKK, FETÖ, and ISIS, all terrorist organizations, grew stronger during the AKP era and became a scourge on the nation.
If there are martyrs today, those who have been governing this country for 21 years are responsible."
