CHP's Halıcı to the government: Keep your promise, abolish the interview system

CHP Isparta Deputy Hikmet Yalım Halıcı said, "We are calling on Yusuf Tekin: abolish the interview system that you said would be removed, and keep the promise you made before the election."

Halıcı held a press conference in Parliament yesterday regarding the current agenda.

Stating that while food inflation is falling globally, it is rising in Turkey, Halıcı said, "According to data compiled by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, global food prices fell by 7.7 percent annually in March. In the same period, annual food inflation in Turkey increased by 70.5 percent."

Sharing Turkey's status in areas such as the rule of law, press freedom, academic freedom, applications to the European Court of Human Rights, human rights rankings, and energy cost inflation, Halıcı stated, "Human rights have been trampled upon. Court rulings could not be complied with, and the constitution has been suspended. The media has been seized. Institutions have been hollowed out and left to decay. Unqualified individuals have been filled into public positions. If the government had been accountable to the public, if the Presidency had not usurped the powers of Parliament, and if there were democracy and human rights, we would not be experiencing this poverty."

CRITICISM FROM CHP TO MINISTERS

Displaying the parliamentary questions he submitted to ministers and emphasizing that these questions were not answered by the relevant ministers, Halıcı criticized Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş and the ministers.

Halıcı noted that despite the announcement by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the then-Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer that the interview system for teacher recruitment would be abolished, the current Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin, decided to continue with the interviews.
