It has been decided that imprisoned Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, who has battled cancer twice and recently underwent surgery for a mass in his neck, will be sent back to prison.

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir reacted sharply to the decision to transfer Çalık back to prison while his health condition remains critical. Targeting Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç in a post on the social media platform X, Emir addressed the public, stating, "While defendants in the Madımak Massacre, ISIS members, and PKK members are released under the pretext of 'health' or 'remorse,' why is a mayor elected by the people's vote, against whom the accusations are weak and who is still undergoing treatment, still being held captive?"

In the same post, Emir stated, "Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, who even secured the release of his own ByLock-using brother who confessed to his crime by saying, 'My older brother got me into these circles'! The knife has now cut through the bone! If the health of Murat Çalık, whom you are holding in prison without his guilt being proven, deteriorates further, you will be held responsible! Both the conscience and the anger of this nation will be upon you!"

Mayor Murat Çalık's lawyer, Melih Koçan, provided information regarding his client's post-hospitalization process. Stating that the medical report prepared regarding Çalık's health condition has not yet reached them, Koçan said the following:

"The report has been issued, but we have not been able to access it yet. Unfortunately, they are going to transfer him to prison. There is no decision yet regarding our request for release. The report was issued yesterday, but we could not see it. It was issued yesterday around 16:30, near the end of the workday. We are trying to obtain the report. After that, our request for release will be evaluated."
