CHP issues stern statement on Hatay election results: 'It is unlawful and void'
A notable development has occurred while the CHP's objections to the election results in Hatay province continue. According to a post on the CHP's official social media account, an attempt was made to issue the certificate of election to the AKP candidate even though the results had not been finalized. The CHP responded sharply to this attempt.

In a press statement released on the party's official social media account, the decision made by the provincial election board regarding the certificate of election was addressed, and the events were met with the following reaction:
"The Hatay Provincial Election Board's attempt to rush the process and issue the certificate of election to the AK Party candidate while objections are still pending is unlawful and, in our view, void."
HERE IS THE PRESS STATEMENT ISSUED BY THE CHP
TO THE PRESS AND THE PUBLIC
The Hatay Provincial Election Board has decided to issue the Metropolitan Municipality mayoral certificate of election to Mehmet Öntürk.
While the process regarding our objections concerning Hatay is still ongoing at the Supreme Election Council (YSK), and even though the margin has narrowed to 2,569 simply because we identified and corrected clerical errors, an attempt is being made in Hatay by the ruling power and the provincial election board to force a fait accompli.
According to the YSK system, there are 38,899 invalid votes in the Hatay Metropolitan Municipality mayoral election.
In other words, the number of invalid votes is approximately 15 times the margin between the two candidates. It is clear that these votes could affect the outcome of the election.
For this reason, the decision taken by the Hatay Provincial Election Board was not made according to election law, but based on political motives.
The decision of the Supreme Election Council dated April 9, 2019, and numbered 2272, which states that a certificate of election shall not be issued in electoral districts where there are pending objections as long as the objection process continues, is also being ignored by the provincial election board.
This decision, taken while our objections regarding Hatay are still pending at the YSK, is void in our view. This decision of the YSK is being ignored by the provincial election board.
After the 3rd Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation, which does not recognize the Constitution and ignores the decisions of the Constitutional Court, the decision of the Supreme Election Council, which is the highest authority in election law, is now being ignored by the provincial election board.
This certificate of election, issued by the provincial election board while the objection process is ongoing, is also illegitimate.
Therefore, we announce to the public that we will file an application to the YSK tomorrow morning at 08:00 to prevent the issuance of the certificate of election due to the ongoing objections.
Hatay is the personal matter of the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and our party.
