CHP Leader Özel: 'AK Party members will eat the meal, Republican People's Party members will pay the bill with interest'

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel attended the "Protection of Constitutional Values" panel organized by the Social Democracy Association. In his speech, Özel said, "If you are attempting to put nails under the tires of the municipal vehicles providing services, then you must see this situation. The SGK debts have accumulated and accrued interest since the AK Party era. You never collected them, but now you are collecting them from the CHP with interest. Then, next month, you will wipe out the interest on the debts of companies, divide the principal, but you will collect the money from CHP-run municipalities in advance."

"AK PARTY MEMBERS WILL EAT THE MEAL, REPUBLICAN PEOPLE'S PARTY MEMBERS WILL PAY THE BILL WITH INTEREST"

Özel continued, "AK Party members will eat the meal, and Republican People's Party members will pay the bill with interest. And the citizens will remain silent about this, right? If you do this, if you commit this injustice, you will fall not only from the hearts of the people but also from their sight. There is a remedy for falling from the heart; however, there is no remedy for falling from sight."

"THE REASON FOR CUTTING THAT MONEY IS NOT THE SGK"

Özel stated, "The reason for cutting that money is not the SGK. There is a 100 lira debt to the SGK. 10 lira of this belongs to all municipalities; the total debt of all municipalities—AK Party, MHP, CHP, IYI Party, and New Welfare Party—is 10 lira. But the remaining 90 lira is the debt of crony contractors and large companies."

"PUBLISH THE LIST OF DEBTORS SO WE CAN SEE"

CHP leader Özel claimed that the SGK debts of municipalities have not been disclosed for years, saying, "Publish the list of debtors so we can see. Which contractor is in first place? Which crony is in second place? Which relative is in third place? The whole list is full of those close to the AK Party. Those who are on the side of the AK Party, those whose backs they pat. Only 10 percent of the total debt belongs to municipalities of other parties. But they seize that debt; as for the others, they forgive the interest and divide the principal into however many installments."

"THE SEIZED MONEY IS THE MONEY MANSUR YAVAŞ USED TO PAY OFF THE CREDIT BOOKS OF THE POOR"

Özel said, "This seized money is the money for the nursery opened for 450 students in Yenimahalle today. They are uncomfortable with that service. This seized money is the money Mansur Yavaş used to pay off the credit books of the poor. They are uncomfortable with that. This money is the money set aside for natural gas assistance."

"IT IS THE PRICE OF TWO BOTTLES OF MILK"

Özel stated, "This money is the price of the mother card that Ekrem İmamoğlu gives to mothers with children up to four or five years old in Istanbul, the 'Happy Birthday Baby' project, the cleaning done in schools, the free water distribution by Beyoğlu Municipality, and the two bottles of milk left at the doors of houses every morning."

"WE ARE DISTRIBUTING MEAT IN AYDIN AND MILK IN IZMIR"

Özel said, "The money being cut today is the money that those who cannot digest the support the public gave to CHP-run municipalities in the March 31 elections are trying to cut, while AK Party municipalities were left helpless during the pandemic and CHP-run municipalities did not leave anyone alone. With that money, we are distributing meat in Aydın and milk in İzmir."

"WE ARE PROVIDING THREE-COURSE MEALS FOR THE PRICE OF HALF A SOUP"

Özel added, "All over Turkey, we are providing three-course meals for the price of half a soup through city restaurants. All over Turkey, with soup kitchens, in Ankara, in Çankaya, we are delivering food to the homes of the poor every day with soup kitchens. This is the money being referred to."

"DEBTS FROM THE AK PARTY ERA HAVE ACCUMULATED DUE TO ENACTED LAWS"

Özel continued his speech as follows:

"Debts from the AK Party era have accumulated due to enacted laws. They are going to enact another one. They used to ask the mayor who paid, 'Why are you paying?' Now they are trying to cut these debts from us with interest and stop the services. I am saying this very clearly. Those who do this, who have fallen from the hearts of the nation on March 31, will soon fall from their sight as well. And they will never be able to enter the sight or the heart of the nation again."
