CHP Leader Özel comments on court's TÜSİAD ruling as 'decay': 'The government is issuing threats'

Following their assessments of the country's political atmosphere, which drew harsh criticism from AKP government officials, Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD) Board Chairman Orhan Turan and High Advisory Council (YİK) President Mehmet Ömer Arif Aras were released late at night by the duty judge with a travel ban.

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made a statement on his social media account regarding the court's decision.

The fact that TÜSİAD President Orhan Turan and High Advisory Council President Ömer Aras, who were targeted by Tayyip Erdoğan this morning, were first taken to give statements under police escort and then subjected to a travel ban and judicial control measures is a new indicator of how the environment of democracy and law has decayed.

Businesspeople who would be given a standing ovation if they said "the economy is doing great" or "bravo to the government's judiciary" are being treated this way simply because they offered criticism.

The government is openly threatening the entire society by saying, "anyone who criticizes me or speaks up will pay the price."

No matter what you do, those who suffer in this country will voice their grievances. Businesspeople, artists, journalists, and politicians will all speak out.

Turkey will not remain silent in the face of this pressure and this malice!
