CHP leader Özel's comments on candidacy: 'Both of our friends would win the elections'

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made assessments regarding various political developments. Touching on many issues from the situation of the lieutenants to the tensions in Parliament, Özel delivered striking messages.

'IF THE LIEUTENANTS RETURN, THIS GOVERNMENT WILL FALL'

Regarding the controversy over allegations that the lieutenants would be dismissed, Özel stated: "If the lieutenants are dismissed, I will have one more motivation. The day the lieutenants return, this government will fall." he said.

Suggesting that the government wants to create a tension similar to February 28, Özel said, "They want to create a tension like February 28. The government wants a return to the old CHP."

'I DO NOT WANT TO DRAG THE MIT INTO POLITICAL DEBATES'

Touching upon his visit to the MIT (National Intelligence Organization), Özgür Özel stated that they received answers to the nine questions they submitted to the institution's officials. However, he did not share the details of these answers, stating, "I do not want to drag the MIT into political debates."

'THE TENSION IN PARLIAMENT IS NOT PLEASANT'

Sharing his views on the controversial sessions in Parliament, Özel criticized Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya and said the following:

"I was aware of the tension in Parliament. However, I am not pleased with the point it has reached. Yerlikaya is attacking our deputies, attacking the cameras. This situation is not pleasant."

'BAHÇELİ'S WORDS ON ÖCALAN WORRIED ERDOĞAN'

Drawing attention to MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's remarks about Öcalan, Özel said, "I think these statements by Bahçeli worried Erdoğan."

'THERE IS NO FIGHT OVER CANDIDACY IN THE CHP'

Addressing the discussions within the party, Özel said there is no fight regarding the presidential candidacy. Özel stated, "There is no fight over candidacy in the CHP. Both of our friends whose names are mentioned for the presidency would win the election. I am not a presidential candidate."
