CHP leader Özgür Özel in Gaziantep: If the party reaches a point where it cannot enter elections, we will find a solution

CHP’s elected Chairman Özgür Özel traveled to Gaziantep today following his contacts in Diyarbakır yesterday.

Meeting with citizens in the Nizip district, Özel delivered a short speech.

"Whatever we do, we will do it together with you, with your consent, without upsetting you, and without leaving you alone" was the message Özel conveyed, as he continued his speech:

"Let's go and see, what do the youth expect from us? We will walk in Gaziantep, we will ask them for our path and direction in Gaziantep, we will offer our arm, we will link arms with Gaziantep, and we will march toward power."

Speaking about the absolute nullity process within the CHP, Özel said, "What is essential is the CHP. It founded the country and brought the country to the ballot box. Therefore, what is essential is that the CHP is managed by those who are elected, not those who are appointed."

"No one should be upset. From the moment of the welcome, beautiful words are being said, sad words are being said, angry words are being said. I am telling you all from here. Whatever we do, we will do it together with you, with your consent, and never, ever by upsetting you or leaving you alone. I promise. What is essential, what is fundamental, is the Republican People's Party (CHP). The Republican People's Party is the party that founded the country and brought the ballot box and elections to the country. Therefore, what is essential is the Republican People's Party. And what is essential is that the Republican People's Party is managed by those who are elected, not those who are appointed. Now, we have no business with bad words. Whoever did what knows what they did, and the nation knows who did what. We will not put those who have fought for this party since childhood, who have shed sweat, who have worked hard, and who have grown this party street by street in the same category as those who are eager to manage this party without being elected.

I know that those with whom we fought and competed in the convention halls yesterday, but who asked for your votes on the key list, are now trying to sit in positions without being elected and appoint provincial and district administrations from there, and are trying to give positions and ranks to those who have no legitimacy among the people, the nation, and the party. But I only tell you this. We are the essence of the Republican People's Party, we are the Republican People's Party itself, and we will fight the struggle within the Republican People's Party to the end. No, if the occupation reaches a dangerous point, if the party passes the dates where it cannot enter elections, if the party starts to go downhill, I will not let anyone sink or bring down the party of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the party I made the first party in the last election, and the party with which we won 65 percent of Turkey together. We will all find a solution together."

There is a rule, a rule. There is only one rule. And that is this: we have left defeats behind, we have no tolerance for losing again. The rule is, ‘we are the winning CHP. We are the CHP marching toward power, and we will never, ever walk with those who are defeated, those who have caused losses, or those who will cause losses; we will walk with you, with those who will win, with those who will be in power.’ Now, that is why we will go and see what the pistachio producer expects from us, we will go and see what the industrialist expects, what the laborer expects, what the housewife expects from us? We will go and see, what do the youth expect from us? We will walk in Gaziantep, we will ask them for our path and direction in Gaziantep, we will offer our arm, we will link arms with Gaziantep, and we will march toward power. Therefore, no one should lose their morale; this excitement of yours is very important. Are we ready to march toward power with this excitement of yours, with this energy of yours? Come on then, let's walk, friends."
