"IF THERE IS A CHP MEMBER INVOLVED, ANYONE WHO KEEPS THEM IN THE PARTY IS DISHONORABLE"
Following the mention of Ahmet Atilla Yılmaz's name in the Newborn Gang investigation, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel had stated, "If there is a CHP member involved in this business, not even directly involved, but within 10 kilometers of it, anyone who keeps them in the party is dishonorable and despicable. We are that clear on this matter."
YILMAZ RESIGNED FROM CHP
According to the report by TGRT, here is Yılmaz's resignation letter:
As a father of four daughters and a physician of 34 years, I am deeply saddened that my name is being mentioned in this grave case. I declare that I will make every effort to ensure that the truth comes to light as soon as possible and that justice is served.
Because, although I have not been charged with intentional homicide by omission or membership in a criminal organization, I would like to express that my sadness is profound.
The fact that I was released after my statement was taken and was not detained has increased my belief that justice will be served and the truth will emerge. My trust in the supreme Turkish justice system is absolute. In order to prevent the process from being politicized and to avoid harming the institutional identity of the Republican People's Party, of which I am a member, I am resigning from my party.
I respectfully submit this for your consideration. Ahmet Atilla Yılmaz"
