CHP Minister questions police officer's detention over Bitlis Police Chief allegations

CHP Deputy Chairman Murat Bakan has issued a call to Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya on his social media account regarding a police officer known by the pseudonym 'Bombacı Mülayim' (Bomber Mülayim). He demanded an explanation as to whether the actions taken against the officer, who allegedly shared claims about events in Bitlis, are legitimate.

CHP İzmir MP Murat Bakan stated that a police officer who shared criticism regarding the Bitlis police chief was taken from Trabzon to Bitlis and detained.

According to Bakan's X social media post, the police officer in question was advocating for the rights of police and soldiers under the pseudonym 'Bombacı Mülayim'.

Accordingly, 'Bombacı Mülayim' shared a message he received from a police officer in Bitlis on social media. The message in question criticized Bitlis Provincial Police Chief Ortaç Şekeroğlu and his wife, who is also a police officer.

HERE IS MURAT BAKAN'S POST

My police brothers know Bombacı Mülayim well.

The 'Bomber' is a police brother of ours who is still on duty, defending and protecting both his own rights and the rights of police and, recently, soldiers. He is one of the most influential accounts on social media. He has spent his life fighting crime and criminals. “Has he ever voted for the CHP in his life? I don't know, does it matter? Not in the slightest!”

When we set out on this path, we said we would protect the rights and laws of the honorable Turkish police and soldiers regardless of their political views. During the Soylu era and afterwards, we protected the rights of the current Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, General Director of Security Erol Ayyıldız, Deputy General Director of Security Mustafa Çalışkan, and many others, but most importantly, we protected the rights and laws of police officers. Now, we will protect the rights and laws of police officer Bombacı Mülayim, who is himself a defender of police rights.

Bombacı Mülayim shared a message he received from a police officer in Bitlis on social media; the content criticized the Bitlis Provincial Police Chief and his wife, who is also a police officer, and that is where the incident begins.

On Sunday, the Bitlis Provincial Police Chief obtained a case number from Bitlis, a commissioner from the Anti-Terror Branch (TEM) and police colleagues went to Trabzon where Bombacı serves as a police officer, obtained a search warrant from Trabzon, and brought him to Bitlis. Last night, an additional detention period was granted, and his statement will be taken tomorrow morning.

Now I am calling out to the Bitlis Provincial Police Chief from here: if there is no other issue than what I have described, and if you are treating an honorable police officer like a terror suspect and bringing him from Trabzon to Bitlis for this reason alone when you could have had his statement taken via instruction, I will hold you accountable for this.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, if you allow this persecution to be inflicted upon a police officer who is a defender of police rights for the sole reason I described above, I will hold you accountable for this as well.

I am following the judicial process.

The ant has a brother. The police have a brother, and that is the CHP, let it be known!
