There is a proposal to name a street in Balıkesir after Ebrar Karakurt. A motion has been submitted to the Municipal Council for this purpose.
EBRAR KARAKURT STREET
According to Haberport, on September 4, CHP Susurluk Municipal Council member Murat Kula proposed that a suitable street or boulevard in the city of Susurluk be named after the successful volleyball player Ebrar Karakurt, who is a native of Balıkesir.
"WE WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE ISSUE"
Kula included the following statements in his remarks:
"Of course, they all played a major role in this victory, but for us, one person is more important than the others. We want to name a street in our district after our fellow citizen Ebrar Karakurt. She was the one who was attacked the most and worked the hardest, but despite all kinds of harmful campaigns, she stood tall, played exceptionally well, and proudly waved our crescent-and-star flag in Europe. This matter has been referred to the relevant commission, and we will continue to follow this issue."
Karakurt, who has been targeted due to her social media posts and sexual orientation, most recently responded to a follower named "Abdulhamid" who insulted her by saying, "Don't talk nonsense, Abdulhamid."
