CHP MP Mahmut Tanal reveals: Debt list of some municipalities taken over from AKP, MHP, and trustees

CHP Şanlıurfa MP Mahmut Tanal has submitted a research motion regarding the debts of municipalities from previous terms.

Tanal explained the following as the justification for the research motion he submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM):

"The debt burden of provincial and district municipalities taken over from the AKP, MHP, and trustees under the People's Alliance umbrella reveals how public money has been squandered. It is observed that even many district municipalities with populations not reaching 100 thousand have left behind debts amounting to millions of liras. In some provinces and districts, the debt per capita exceeds 10 thousand liras."

DENİZLİ METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITY

"It has been revealed that the Denizli Metropolitan Municipality, which passed from the AKP to the CHP, has a debt of 11 billion 130 million 969 thousand liras.

BALIKESİR METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITY

Information has been reflected in the press that the total debt of the Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, which passed from the AKP to the CHP, is at the level of 15 billion liras. Reports also indicate that the final study regarding the debt at the Balıkesir Municipality has not yet been completed, calculations are ongoing, and the debt items and total amount of the municipality will be shared with the public in the coming days.

KÜTAHYA MUNICIPALITY

At the first council meeting of the Kütahya Municipality, which has a population of 575 thousand, the total debt was announced as 1 billion 717 million liras. CHP's Eyüp Kahveci, who took over the Kütahya Mayoralty by defeating his MHP rival, emphasized that the municipality was driven to bankruptcy by the AKP, stating, 'We had to explain what kind of municipality we took over.'

SANCAKTEPE MUNICIPALITY

The debt of the Istanbul Sancaktepe Municipality, which passed from the AKP to the CHP and made headlines with its palace-like building and luxury bathrooms, is 1 billion 946 million 726 thousand 113 liras.

BARTIN, KİLİS, GÖLBAŞI, ALANYA, TUZLA MUNICIPALITIES

The Bartın Municipality, which passed from the MHP to the CHP, left behind a debt of 251 million 301 thousand 346 liras; the Kilis Municipality, which passed from the AKP to the CHP, left 502 million liras in debt; the Ankara Gölbaşı Municipality, which passed from the MHP to the CHP, left 1 billion 60 million 235 thousand 863 liras in debt; the Antalya Alanya Municipality, which also passed from the MHP to the CHP, left 1 billion 122 million 258 thousand 556 liras in debt; and the Tuzla Municipality, which passed from the AKP to the CHP, left 1 billion liras in debt.

Tanal also disclosed the debts of municipalities that passed from trustee administration to the DEM Party.

MARDİN METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITY

"It has been announced to the public that the Mardin Metropolitan Municipality, which the DEM Party took over from trustee administration, has a debt of 3 billion 502 million 489 thousand 545 liras, and the Siirt Kurtalan Municipality has a debt of 165 million liras,

SİİRT, SURUÇ MUNICIPALITIES

The Siirt Municipality has a debt of 456 million 853 thousand 781 liras, and the Şanlıurfa Suruç Municipality has a debt of 176 million 997 thousand 954 liras."
