Striking London criticism from CHP's Murat Emir to AKP: 'Those who posed with the man they call a spy'

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir made notable statements on his social media account regarding AKP figures who attended a meeting in London. Emir argued that the 'espionage' accusations leveled against İmamoğlu are unjust, pointing to the figures who attended a meeting with Hüseyin Gün years ago.

Criticism continues to rise from CHP ranks regarding the 2010 London meeting, which came to the agenda with the testimony of Hüseyin Gün, and the AKP figures who attended it.

Following CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır, CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir also made striking statements.

Stating that he wants to know what the current head of the MIT, İbrahim Kalın, was doing at a meeting attended by Hüseyin Gün—who has been brought to the agenda with espionage accusations—Emir said that the accusations made against İmamoğlu lost their meaning after the images in question emerged.

In his statement, where he used the phrase 'speak only as much as your stature allows,' Emir included the following remarks:

It is the meeting organized by the Global Strategy Forum at the House of Lords on February 8, 2010, through the initiative of Hüseyin Gün. 

Who is in the room? 

Egemen Bağış, Kürşat Tüzmen, İbrahim Kalın… 

Today, İbrahim Kalın is at the head of the MIT. Egemen Bağış, as the Ambassador to Prague, at least represented his party abroad. 

This event took place before the process leading to the September 12, 2010 referendum. With that referendum, the judiciary was handed over to FETÖ, and the country was pushed into a dark tunnel leading to July 15. Those who opened those corridors together have now stood up and are labeling the opposition through the person whose doors they knocked on together in London, calling him a "spy".

Yesterday, you were building legitimacy in London through contacts you called "networking"; today, you are trying to market them as "espionage". It won't stick.

Those who set the stage in London that day are now telling fairy tales, saying "Ekrem İmamoğlu committed espionage, foreign connections were established with Necati Özkan"; and they are seizing Tele 1 over this. 

Either this man is not a spy and you are liars, or you are done with the man and are trying to silence us through him. Or, worst of all, your prosecutors, the heads of the judicial branches, know about this photo and are looking to summon the head of the MIT to testify, just as FETÖ used to do. 

Look in the mirror before writing a "spy" fairy tale on our behalf. The person at the head of the MIT was in that room that day; the person who sat in the ambassador's chair was also a prominent figure. You cannot forget the stage you set together in London, invent a "crime scene" today, and wash your filth onto the opposition.

You cannot close the doors you opened and walked through yourselves by slandering us. 

I have said it before, and I am saying it again:

This government is looking to dump its own sins onto the opposition. Those who cannot look at their own faces in the mirror of their own crimes are trying to cover their filth by holding that mirror up to the CHP.
