CHP reacts to footage of principal trying to prevent recitation of the 'Student Oath': It is a great disgrace

Yücel stated, "We ask the school administration, which tried to prevent students from reciting the Student Oath: Why were you so uncomfortable with our children reciting the Student Oath? Is it a crime to recite the Student Oath in this country?"

In a post on his social media account, Yücel used the following expressions:

"The attempt by the school principal at Buca Işılay Saygın Fine Arts High School to prevent students who wanted to recite the Student Oath before the singing of the National Anthem is a great disgrace. We ask the school administration, which tried to prevent students from reciting the Student Oath: Why were you so uncomfortable with our children reciting the Student Oath? Is it a crime to recite the Student Oath in this country?

Trying to hinder our children who are devoted to the Republic, who uphold our national and spiritual values, and who follow the path of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, is not only unbecoming of an educator but also constitutes a crime, and an investigation must be launched immediately against all those responsible involved in the action.

We understand and see what the Ministry of National Education is trying to do by scheduling this year's mid-term break exactly to coincide with the week of November 10, when millions will commemorate Atatürk. The Student Oath, which our children recite in unison, is the best answer to this ugly game.

We are proud of our children who show the will to uphold the principles and values of our Founding Leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. These children are children who have sworn to walk tirelessly on the path opened by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk toward the goal he set. Incompetent administrators with ideological obsessions will never be able to stop this march."
