CHP's Emir calls on Justice Minister regarding 'Akın Gürlek complaint': Petition must be processed immediately

The CHP, filed a criminal complaint againstIstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlekwith the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emirmade evaluations regardingthe evidence in the criminal complaintfile.

Emir stated that Chief Prosecutor Gürlek's purchase of luxury real estatecould not be explainedby his officialincome,adding thattheassets werepurchases were made, that no bank loans were used for these purchases, and that they had pastcommercialdealings with the companies in the IMM file. Emir argued thata MASAK report should be prepared regarding Gürlekand that the HSK should initiate an investigation. Emir claimed that these documents were leaked to journalists and pointed to the HSK as the responsible party.

"AKP members are sending many documentsto use us to settle their internal disputes.Of course, we examine every document we receive in the finest detail. However, as the CHP, we are not a party to the power struggleswithin the government.For this reason, we take action only after examining and verifying the documents we receive.we are going through. After these documents reached us,our Chairman gave instructions to investigate the matter. Following their investigations, our colleaguesfiled a criminal complaint with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on December 17.Our Chairmanmanaged theprocess with great diligence. The prosecutor'soffice also sent the file to the HSK.forwarded. After the file went to the HSK (Council of Judges and Prosecutors), it was emailed to hundreds of journalists.The source of this must also be investigated, as the situationpoints to the file being leakedfrom the inside."

CHP's Emir continued his remarks as follows:

"This document in our possession is dated March 29, 2024, from Kadıköy 34th Notary Publicwas arranged. The recipient of this agreement is Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek. Gürlek, from the Tema Istanbul 2 project, at the market value of approximately 30 million TLpurchased aluxury apartment that wasunder construction. However, when welook at thecontract, we see that the sale priceis shown as 9 million 837 thousand TL excluding VAT.For thishouse, not a single pennyNo bank loans were used, payments were made entirely by promissory note.After paying the 838,000 lira down payment, the Chief Public Prosecutormadea payment of exactly 3 million lirajust 3 days after the agreement,on April 1, 2024, via a promissory note.

It doesn't end; on May 30he pays 2 million liras, on July 30 another 2 million liras, and on September 30, another 1 million 999 thousand liras. In the Republic of Turkey, which public official's salary is enough to pay off promissory notes of 2-3 million liras every two months? Furthermore, the seller of this house, the 'Mesa, Artaş, Kantur-Akdaş Ordinary Partnership', is not an ordinary construction firm. These firms are the very ones that Gürlek oversawduringwho are mentioned in the indictmentof the case in which our presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu and his colleagues are being tried, butwho were not made defendantsdue to 'effectiveremorse' provisionsand were instead protected. From the company,morethan first, he bought a houseat a value far belowits market value.

Gürlek signed a preliminary protocol with Emlak Konut to purchase a villa worth exactly 95 million 542 thousand 500 TLfrom the 'Symphony Houses' project in Etilerforwork.
