REACTION TO THE CHYRON

During the program, which focused on the local election agenda, a chyron reading "What exactly is the 'CHP-DEM cooperation'?" sparked a debate. CHP Party Assembly Member Ali Haydar Fırat reacted to the chyron.

WALKED OUT OF THE BROADCAST

Habertürk columnist Nasuhi Güngör accused Fırat of interfering with the chyron and asked, "Who are you?" Fırat replied, "I am a member of the Republican People's Party. I have to defend my party." As the tension escalated during the debate, Fırat walked out of the broadcast.

STATEMENT FROM Ali Haydar Fırat

Following the debate, CHP's Fırat issued a written statement on his social media account.

Fırat used the following expressions:

"To the public,

As someone who has appeared on television screens for years and has always shown infinite respect for every party, leader, and voter, and who has made every effort not to offend anyone, I would like to share my sadness regarding the incident that took place on Habertürk this evening.

Those who collaborate with terrorist organizations while hiding it, and those who strive to cover up the poverty, hunger, and misery experienced by our people,

I viewed it as a responsibility entrusted to me by the millions of comrades who voted for my party to react against those who make disrespectful accusations, from my founding Chairman and most important guide in life, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, to my current Chairman, Mr. Özgür Özel, and I did what was necessary.

I could not ignore the efforts made to smear our Metropolitan Mayor, Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was elected twice by the legitimate votes of the people of Istanbul and who has not taken a step back in serving his people despite the entire blockade by the government.

I want it to be known that from now on, I will not remain on the defensive in any way, and I will never allow this system, which hides the painful problems of our people, prevents them from being discussed, and unfairly and heartlessly accuses my party, to pass.

Protecting my party, which was entrusted to me from my ancestors to my father, and defending the rights of my people under all circumstances is a great honor and responsibility for me.

My final word: With the responsibility and honor of being an executive in the party of the great Atatürk, who said 'those who seek to compromise cannot make fundamental revolutions,' I will continue to defend my people and my country, and to struggle to be worthy of the citizens who voted for my party.

Respectfully...

Dr. Ali Haydar Fırat

Republican People's Party Party Assembly Member"
