CHP's Karabat: 'Turkey's real diploma problem is unemployed university graduates'
CHP Deputy Chairman Özgür Karabat drew attention to the unemployment problem faced by university graduates in Turkey. Karabat stated that the debates surrounding Ekrem İmamoğlu's diploma are an attempt to cover up economic realities.

“Families Make Great Sacrifices, Young People Cannot Find Jobs”
Stating that families send their children to university with great difficulty, but that graduates face serious problems in finding jobs, Karabat noted in a statement on his social media account that one in every four bachelor's degree holders is unemployed.
Noting that the registered employment rate for bachelor's degree holders was 75.1 percent in 2022 and only rose to 75.6 percent in 2023, Karabat stated that the picture is even more dire for associate degree graduates. He stated that the registered employment rate for associate degree graduates was 67.3 percent in 2022 and 67.7 percent in 2023.
“Graduates Cannot Find Jobs in Their Fields”
Emphasizing that the time it takes for university graduates to find a job has lengthened, Karabat reported that bachelor's degree holders find jobs in an average of 14.4 months, while associate degree holders take 15.9 months. However, he said that even those who find jobs are often forced to work outside the fields they graduated from.
“Young People Are Forced to Work in Poor Conditions”
Pointing out that university-educated young people are forced to work informally in construction, mining, the service sector, and daily labor due to unemployment, CHP Deputy Chairman Özgür Karabat said that young people are getting sick, injured, and losing their lives due to poor working conditions.

Karabat stated that hundreds of thousands of young people have migrated to different countries, from Japan to Germany, due to unemployment and poor working conditions. He argued that the AKP, which feels no responsibility for all these problems, is trying to change the agenda with diploma debates.
“AKP and Erdoğan Lost at the Ballot Box”
Noting that Turkey no longer wants to see the AKP and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in power, Karabat said, “Those who could not defeat the CHP at the ballot box are trying to maintain their power with desk-bound games. Whatever you do, it is in vain; the people have already made their decision, you are on your way out!”
